Grow op busted in Rivers

On Saturday, Sept. 30 Rivers Police Service received information of a possible marijuana grow operation.

Through co-operation with Brandon Police Service and Rivers Police, a search warrant was executed on Tuesday, Oct. 3 in the 700 block of Fifth Avenue in Rivers. A substantial number of plants and a quantity of marijuana were seized, along with equipment used in growing marijuana. Value of the seizure is believed to be worth in excess of $60,000.

A male in his 40s has been charged with cultivation and production of marijuana, contrary to section 7(1) Controlled Substances and Distribution Act and possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana, contrary to section 5(1) Controlled Substances and Distribution Act. The male  is expected to appear in court sometime in early December.
