Judith McCaskill finalist for provincial award

The Women Business Owners of Manitoba (WBOM) are proud to announce Judith McCaskill has been declared one of  30 finalists for the 2013 woman entrepreneur of the year award.

This annual gala event puts the spotlight on the successes and achievements of women entrepreneurs in Manitoba. The dinner, to be emceed by Dorothy Dobbie, founder and president of Pegasus Publications Inc., will take place at the Winnipeg Convention Centre on Thursday, May 16. The finalists’ names are public, however the winners are not revealed until the evening itself.

This year’s 30 finalists come from across the province and represent businesses as diverse as jewelry design, spas, holistic medicine and of course, the Sandy Lake Hotel, owned by McCaskill.

McCaskill was raised on a farm just outside of Gladstone and spent much of her adult life in Brandon before moving to Sandy Lake just over 11 years ago.

She strives to create a lifetime of memories for her valued customers through outstanding hospitality, food, beverages, services and activities offered at her small town country hotel. Beyond growing the business, her vision reaches out to working with others to improve the quality of life for permanent and seasonal residents by offering a range of community services and activities.

In the past 10 years Judith has helped raise over $225,000 for community organizations in her hotel.
