Flavour of Mexico comes to Neepawa

Last week, Neepawa welcomed some very important international delegates. From Aug. 27 to Sept. 3, a Mexican delegation from the City of Salvatierra, Guanajuato, came to Manitoba on a trade mission sponsored by HyLife and their partner Mercator Inc. The World Trade Centre (WTC) in Winnipeg hosted the visitors, who also came to Neepawa for a few days during their mission.

Wild summer at Neepawa Library comes to a close

We’ve had a wild summer at Neepawa Library. Congratulations to all the participants in the TD Summer Reading Club this year - from the enthusiastic pre-readers to the middle grade readers and teens who enjoyed all the books and activities we had to offer this summer. Our theme this year was “wild” and we had lots of wild fun traveling around the world learning about wild places and wild things, thanks to Vicky Elgert who led the activities again this year.

Country Meadow's strawberry social a success

Country Meadows in Neepawa held their annual Strawberry Social Tuesday, Aug.9th.  The residents, along with their families and friends, enjoyed an afternoon of great music and delicious treats. Thank you to the volunteers who provided entertainment and spent their afternoon serving cake, strawberries and ice-cream. At the social there was a bake sale table as well as a prize table. Thank you to all the generous donations of food, prizes and baking to make the event a success.

On Monday, Aug. 29, a get-together was held at the Rotary Park Bird Sanctuary. The purpose of the meeting was for Jake Birch explains the day-to-day requirements for looking after the birds at the sanctuary to some potential volunteers.

Family Drop-in Centre in Neepawa to open soon

At the end of September, families in the community of Neepawa will have a place to find resources and ask questions. Several local agencies and organizations have banded together to start up a pilot project of a family resource drop-in centre.
