The first stage of a major renovation at the Yellowhead Centre (YHC) in Neepawa is nearly complete. The improvements, including the installation of new LED lighting in the arena and the concourse, as well as the addition of a new de-humidifier, have wrapped up. The only remaining portion of work needed to be done at this time is the repainting of the seats around the arena, which is expected to begin in July.

On June 16, the Beautiful Plains Community Foundation gave out $103,510 in grants at their annual grant presentation luncheon. Community Fund grants totalling $38,700 were made to 12 local organizations. The money for these grants comes from the interest earned each year on the Community Fund.  Each year, a group of Foundation board members form the Grants committee, who evaluates the requests and makes a decision regarding allocation of funds.

Hello, my name is Lea Heschuk. I am excited to be back for my third year as the curator of the Beautiful Plains Museum. For the last two months, volunteers and I have been busy renovating the basement. We are still in the process of putting new displays together, so the basement is closed to visitors. Despite the basement being closed, there is still a lot to see on our main floor, upstairs and in our railcar.
