Church chatter - Jan 11

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a most enjoyable and meaningful Christmas season! The pews at Rivers United Church were filled for the annual Christmas Eve service.

Dianne Kowalchuk led the carol singing before worship, accompanied by Hugh Russell. Readers were Rodi Sveistrup, Amanda Kowalchuk, Julie Dyck and Rob van Dixhoorn. The congregation enjoyed a musical selection sung by Hugh, Naomi, Alice and Colin Russell, accompanied by Craig Terry.

On Dec. 28 Rivers United hosted the interdenonimational lessons and carols service. Barb Sveistrup, Sally Carter, Nathan Klassen, Shane Hodkin, Sheila Runions, Jean Ryall, Liliane Dupuis and Abe Krahn provided the readings. Following the service, a delicious and bountiful

potluck lunch and social time was enjoyed.

We would like to thank Dan and Kelly Spurway for the donation of the magnificent and fragrant fir tree that graced our sanctuary throughout the Christmas season.

With 2015 well underway, it's time to regroup and organize upcoming church events. Choir practice will resume on Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. New members are welcome! Sunday school will once again be held on the second Sunday of the month; we look forward to seeing the children and their parents

on Jan. 11. Many committees will be reconvening in January. The annual meeting has been rescheduled and will now take place on Sunday, Feb. 15 following worship. Everyone is encouraged to

attend; please bring finger food to share and your own plate, mug and utensils.

Rivers United Church services are held every Sunday at 11a.m. with Rev. Glenna Beauchamp officiating. We would love to have you join us. Everyone is welcome!
