Under the leadership of Dan Cowell, 60 children enjoyed a week of Maker FunFactory vacation Bible camp Aug. 21-25. Thank you to the dedicated volunteers from Rivers Baptist and Rivers United who helped make it another very successful camp.

With the days getting shorter and the calendar flipped up for September, the reconvening of church activities is upon us. Sunday school began Sept. 10 and will be held again Oct. 1 and Nov. 12. We are most thankful for the return of Sunday school leaders Shelley Foster and Becky Stewart.

Many committees will meet during September to plan for the next few months. There are a number of upcoming events scheduled, so I encourage you to mark down the dates to avoid disappointment!

Choir practices will resume on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. New members are welcome to attend. Dates for our fall thrift sale have been set for Sept. 28-30. An unbelievable amount of donations has already been dropped off at the church including clothing, housewares, books, home decor, toys and knick-knacks. For sure there is something for everyone! Watch for posters around town and an upcoming ad in Rivers Banner or contact Lynn Madden (204-328-7735) for further information.

In celebration with Canada's 150, the Outreach Committee is planning a Canadian trivia night for Friday, Nov. 24. Tables of eight people are recommended and Canadian-themed costumes are encouraged! These nights have been lots of fun and well attended in the past; we hope you will study up on you facts and attend. Bragging rights and prizes are on the line! For further information contact Lorrie Dyer.

Congratulations are extended to former congregants and new grandparents in our church for the following families: Brock and Amanda Fisher (Kowalchuk) on the arrival of their baby boy Nicholas; William and Suz McFadden welcomed their new addition Samuel; Glen Burgess and Danica Wotton happily announce they have a new son, Pierce.

Worship services are held at Rivers United every Sunday at 11 a.m. and we extend a warm welcome to all who worship with us.
