MJHL: Terriers defeat Pistons; Blues double up Flyers

Zack Waldvogel netted a goal and an assist, helping the Portage Terriers defeat the defending MJHL champion Steinbach Pistons 4-1 on Thursday night. 

Brent Wold, Tyler Jeanson and Taylor Friesen scored the other goals for Portage, who improved to 9-3-2 this season. 

It was only the second loss of the year for the Pistons, who sit with an 11-2-0 record. 

Meanwhile, the Winnipeg Blues doubled up the Winkler Flyers by a score of 6-3.

Kamerin Nault scored a hat-trick for the Blues, who outshot the Flyers 40-23 as Winnipeg improved to 6-5-2 this year. 

The Flyers dropped to a league worst 3-8-2 this season. 

 

MJHL transactions

There have been a few trades that have been announced recently in the MJHL. 

- The Selkirk Steelers have acquired 20-year-old defenceman Tyler Kauk from the Estevan Bruins for future considerations.

- The Steinbach Pistons have traded 18-year-old forward A.J. Rupert to the Minnesota Iron Rangers of the SIJHL for future considerations.

- The Winnipeg Blues have traded 20-year-old blueliner Sean Collins to the Winkler Flyers for 17-year-old forward Adam Brooks and future considerations.

- The Portage Terriers have acquired 19-year-old defenceman Braeden Jones from the Trail Smoke Eaters for future considerations.
