MJHL news: Terriers trade Wold, Butler

A blockbuster trade in the MJHL took place recently.

The Portage Terriers dealt 20-year-old forward Brent Wold and 20-year-old forward Dylan Butler to the Dauphin Kings for 17-year-old forward Taylor Sanheim and 19-year-old defenceman Landon Peel.

Wold and Butler are both currently in the top 10 in league scoring.

Sanheim meanwhile, is a former member of the Manitoba Midget AAA Hockey League's Yellowhead Chiefs. Currently in his rookie season in the MJHL, Sanheim has one goal and five points.

“This is a big move for our hockey club," said Kings GM and head coach Marlin Murray in a release. “It’s never easy to let a young player like [Taylor] Sanheim go, but we felt the return was too great not to make the deal. Both Brent and Dylan bring skill, character and experience to our line up. These two players know what it takes to compete and win in big games."

The Kings made another move, acquiring 19-year-old goaltender Michael Stiliadis from the BCHL's Vernon Vipers for future considerations.

In other news, the Virden Oil Capitals have traded 19-year-old forward Kolby Woods to the Selkirk Steelers for future considerations.

Lastly, the Winkler Flyers have traded 20-year-old forward Nick Lamouruex to the North Bay Trappers of the NOJHL for future considerations.
