Chiefs' Geekie named Manitoba AAA Midget player of the week; Pulock named WHL player of week

Morgan Geekie of the Yellowhead Chiefs was named the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League's player of the week.

Geekie, 15, from Strathclair, had a five-goal weekend, including four in a 6-3 win over the Central Plains Capitals and a single tally in a 5-3 win over the Eastman Selects.

Listed at 6-feet and 152 pounds, Geekie, who had a plus/minus rating of plus-4 on the weekend, leads the Chiefs in scoring with 12 goals and 22 points.

Meanwhile, the league's rookie of the week was Ty Lewis of the Brandon Wheat Kings after scoring four goals and seven points in two games.

Pulock named WHL player of the week

Blueliner Ryan Pulock of the Brandon Wheat Kings was named the Western Hockey League's player of the week.

Pulock, the captain of the squad, scored two goals and seven points in leading the Wheat Kings to three straight victories.

Pulock, a product of Grandview, MB, is in his fourth WHL campaign with the Brandon Wheat Kings, and currently ranks 11th among all WHL defencemen in scoring with eight goals and 21 points in 18 games this season.
