Jets fall to Flames in a shootout

Sean Monahan scored the game winner in the eighth round of a shootout on Monday night, giving Calgary a 5-4 victory over the Winnipeg Jets and in the process, ending the Flames’ six-game winless skid.

Juri Hudler gave Calgary a 4-3 lead with less than four minutes left in the game, however Bryan Little of the Jets tied it 4-4 with six seconds left.

Michael Cammalleri scored his team-leading ninth goal of the season for the Flames on the power play and added an assist. T.J. Brodie and Lance Bouma also scored. Michael Frolik, Olli Jokinen and Dustin Byfuglien also scored for Winnipeg, and defenceman Grant Clitsome and Blake Wheeler added a pair of assists.

Jets goaltender Al Montoya faced 28 shots in regulation and five in overtime. Berra meanwhile, faced 47 shots, including three in overtime.

Winnipeg had a four-game home winning streak halted, but are 4-2-1 in their last seven games and currently sit with a 10-10-3 record.
