The Brandon University Bobcats women's volleyball team announced on Monday that Nikki Majewski, the 2013-2014 Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association player of the year, has signed a letter of intent to play for the squad next fall.

Majewski, a 5-foot-11 outside hitter from Winnipeg’s Westwood Collegiate, is known for success in both basketball and volleyball. She’s played for the River City Rush, Big Sand and Fusion club teams, as well as being a member of the Manitoba’s under-18 NTCC team and a stand-out with her high school team.

On top of being a successful volleyball player, Majewski also brought home a bronze medal from the Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke as a member of Team Manitoba basketball this past summer.

“Playing in the CIS has always been a goal for me," said Majewski in a release. "As the level of the game goes up, so does my level of play, it becomes more and more intense and exciting and as all athletes know, the more intense you are the more fun it is to play. I strive for this intensity that’s why I cannot wait to play at the CIS level."

“Nikki is unbelievably dynamic. She jumps really high, she swings really hard, and she has an incredible passion for volleyball and all sports,” said Bobcats head coach Lee Carter.

“The first time I saw Nikki hit a ball I thought she needs to be a Bobcat," he continued. "The fact that she wants to go into education and she had an aunt that went to BU were all things that helped contribute to her ending up committing to us."

Majewski was the Winnipeg Sun’s girls high school volleyball coaches poll No. 2 ranked player in all of Manitoba this past season.
