The Neepawa Farmers’ playoff run has come to an end in disappointing fashion, as the team has been swept by the Carberry Plainsmen in three straight games. The final straw was a 7-0 loss on Thursday, Feb. 25, to close out the best-of-five series.

As had been the case throughout the regular season of the Tiger Hills Hockey League (THHL), Carberry relied on its offensive superiority to take control of the game early, with Jon Gaudet scoring just two minutes into the opening period. Joey Coates added another at the 13:01 mark, to make it 2-0.

In the second, the Plainsmen added another pair of goals to take a stranglehold on the lead and put the pressure on Neepawa for the last half of the game. Unfortunately, the Farmers were unable to climb back into contention. Carberry meanwhile added three more goals in the final 20 minutes to make the final score 7-0. Zeanan Ziemer lead the night for Carberry with three points (1-2). With the victory, the Plainsmen sweep the Farmers in the best-of-five series three games to nothing.
