NACI Hits the track at Selkirk royal rumble

The Neepawa Area Collegiate Institute (NACI) Tigers continue to pile up solid results on the track, as the team recently completed at the Selkirk Royal Rumble. For this most recent competition, the junior varsity squad performed extremely well, lead by Ben Perrett winning the JV boys 400m, with a spectacular time of 53.73. That result was 3.34 seconds better than the second place competitor. The JV boys relay team, meanwhile, placed second in the 4x100m relay, registering a time of 48.46.

Braden Gillies claimed second overall spot in the JV triple jump with an 11.09m performance. He also picked up sixth place in the long jump (5.52m) and seventh in the discus (27.45m). Teammate, Garret Rainkie also claimed a top 10 finish in the triple jump, with a 9.28m jump. In the javelin throw, Daxx Turner took 10th place (28.57m).

In the junior varsity girls shot put 4kg, Rylee Gluska secured second place, with a throw of 7.92m. She also earned eighth in discus, (20.84m) and fifth in javelin (23.07m).

On the senior side of the competition, Hammar Jackson picked up a pair of third place finishes, in shot put 5kg (11.66m) and discus throw 1.5kg (31.65m). As well, Dylan Oshanyk took 10th in discus, with 27.34m.

For the senior girls shot put, NACI’s Taryn McConechy was the third place finishers (8.74m) and second in the javelin throw (24.95m).
