Jets officially eliminated from playoffs

The Winnipeg Jets were officially eliminated from playoff contention on Thursday night in NHL action.

The Jets -- who dropped a 4-2 decision to the Montreal Canadiens in what was their last regular season contest -- realized they would be missing out on the postseason in the midst of their game thanks to the Ottawa Senators and New York Rangers both picking up two points. The Sens and Rangers were two teams the Jets were hoping to catch in the Eastern Conference standings.

James Wright and Blake Wheeler scored for Winnipeg in the loss.
