Elite junior golfers from across Canada gathered in Neepawa this past weekend for the 2016 CN Future Links Prairie Championship. The event was part of the national junior series, which concludes with the 2016 Canadian Junior Boys Championship, August 1-4 in St. John’s, NL, and the Canadian Junior Girls Championship in Shubenacadie, NS, from August 2-5.

A pair of recent losses to the Santa Clara Baseball League’s top teams have dropped the Neepawa Cubs under the .500 mark for the regular season. Neepawa first fell to the league leading Plumas Pirates 9-6 on Wednesday, June 8. The game, played in Neepawa at the Fairgrounds, started off very well for the home side, as the Cubs secured an early advantage, holding a 5-1 lead after three innings.
Neepawa approves new cemetery sidewalk

Town Council has approved the installation of a new sidewalk at the Neepawa Cemetery. The Town received two formal bids on this project, which will feature an intricate design that wraps around the site’s new columbarium. J.C. Lavish Construction had the low bid at $25,000. That bid amount was approved and a timeline for the work to begin is currently being explored
Summer at the food bank

Summer is almost here! Which means everyone’s normal routine gets traded in for vacations, camps, late night bonfires, visiting family and friends. It is such a wonderful time of year to enjoy the outdoors and our many hours of sunlight. One of the effects of all of us getting out of routine includes the donations to the food bank tend to dwindle for the summer. Unfortunately the use of the food bank does not correlate to this reduction in donations.
