Gerd Behrendt of Riding Mountain and his daughter Angela Lillico of Winnipeg are co-hosting an art exhibit this month of their works at the Wayne Arthur Gallery on Provencher Ave. in St. Boniface. Behrendt farmed for a number of years at Langruth and is also a musician. He regularly plays his violin at Country Meadows in Neepawa.

Where do we want our young offenders to be spending their time? The Winnipeg School Division board chair would like to see them in school. This week, Mark Wasyliw, who is also a defence lawyer, proposed a pilot project that would move bail and probation officers into the division’s schools. The school board will vote on the proposal later this month. If it’s passed, the provincial government will have to approve the project before it can be implemented.
Walk for Alzheimer’s coming to a town near you

Throughout the month of June, communities across Manitoba are coming together to support those suffering with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. This year marks the 24th annual Walk for Alzheimer’s (formerly called the Memory Walk), raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba (ASM).

The Neepawa Natives are very happy with what transpired at the 2016 Manitoba Junior Hockey League draft. The team selected seven players in total during the event, which was held on Sunday, June 5 in Selkirk.
