New ideas on economic development were plentiful at the Economic Developers Association of Manitoba (EDAM) spring forum.
The event was co-hosted by Neepawa and Minnedosa from May 11-13 and featured 75 representatives from 52 different municipalities and organizations from across Manitoba. Those numbers made it one of the most well attended EDAM events in the past decade.

The 13th Annual Tribute to Tourism Awards & Gala will be held this year at 6.00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, at Carberry Community Hall.

Rivers teen wins bronze at nationals

Sixteen-year-old Haylee Anderson of Rivers was in Mississauga, Ont. May 2-7 to compete in the annual National Aboriginal Hockey Championship (NAHC). As part of Team Manitoba, she and the rest of the roster claimed their second consecutive bronze medal; Haylee’s first NAHC bronze medal was won last year in Halifax.

Two sisters from Neepawa made an effort to send some glamour to graduating girls in Fort McMurray who lost theirs in the recent fire. Eighteen-year-old Shaelyn and 21-year-old Jade Leflar reached out to girls who have graduated from NACI in the past few years to see if they would be interested in donating their grad dresses to send to Alberta.
