Manitoba RCMP charge mother in death of child

On January 31, 2015, the Manitoba RCMP was called to assist the Dakota Ojibway Police Service in an investigation into the death of a two-year-old boy from Waywayseecappo First Nation.
On April 5, 2016, RCMP investigators from the Serious Crimes Unit arrested and charged a 36-year-old woman, the mother of the two-year-old boy, with Second Degree Murder.
She has been remanded in custody and will appear in Brandon Provincial Court at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2016.

On Sunday, April 24, Charles (Charlie) Sage will be inducted (posthumously) into the Manitoba Fiddlers' Wall of Fame as a Builder/Promoter. Charlie was an avid fiddler from an early age. He was completely self taught. During his life, he played at many community dances, house parties, local groups and just for the enjoyment of playing.

On Wednesday, March 16, area residents were invited to the open house of New Hope Health Centre. In her introduction, owner Lisa Davie said, "30 years ago, I studied reflexology and nutrition at an institution in Winnipeg. I believe in thinking outside of the box and have consistently upgraded my schooling and studies. I opened my first clinic in reflexology in Stephenfield, Manitoba. Then operated a clinic on Mountain Avenue 18 years ago. The business, comprising of 1,000 sq. ft. was moved to our home here and then last October, we decided we required more space.

A Neepawa man is facing several charges in connection with the manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine. On Wednesday, March 30, Spruce Plains RCMP executed a search warrant in Neepawa, which resulted in the arrest of Joel Blanco, 37, who has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking CDSA Schedule 1 (Methamphetamine) and Produce Substance under CDSA (Methamphetamine).
