People gathered at Kenton Memorial Hall on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 10:45 a.m. for the Remembrance Day service, held to honour and remember those who served and are serving today for our freedom. Pianist for the morning was Eileen Kent; emcee was Kenton Legion Branch No. 118 President Mike Ramsden. He welcomed everyone and told us Shilo soldiers were not in attendance, due to bad weather the night before. Everyone sang O Canada.

Cattle producers look to the future

With the cows now home and the bales stacked, beef producers across Manitoba have begun to look to the future. This fall, Manitoba Beef Producers (MBP) have been holding their annual district meetings to discuss issues of importance to producers and the future of the industry.

The Gladstone Handi-Workers 4-H Club has grown to over 40 members this year, with over a dozen projects, and a budget of about $5,000. At the first meeting in September, members elected a new executive: President, Nikki Anderson; Vice-President, Laci Buydens; Secretary, Keira Reimer; Treasurer, Mandy Anderson; Club Reporter, Rylee Wiebe; Scrapbook Keeper, Siobhan Yorke-Ashman.  Kynda Pollard continues as head leader.

Council clips RM of Oakview, Nov. 7: The burn site at the Ward 3 landfill is to be cleaned out and hauled to the Ward 2 dump. CAO Diane Kuculym reported on a meeting she had with a Manitoba Waste Management; a meeting will be held to discuss improvements to Rapid City’s landfill site, as per Sustainable Development’s letter.
