A new scoreclock and arena boards aren’t the only recent changes at the Yellowhead Centre (YHC) in Neepawa, as building manager and director of operations Ann Kuharski has tendered her resignation.

Rev. Ray Collver and his wife Blanche lived at Neepawa in the 1950s. Collver was pastor at Neepawa’s Calvary Chapel. His son Rodney is re-tracing his father’s footsteps and will be preaching at Calvary Chapel on Sept. 10.

Some men follow in the fathers’ footsteps. One former Neepawa resident not only followed in his father’s footsteps, he is re-tracing those steps. Rod Collver spent some of his early years in Neepawa while his father, the Rev. H R Collver was pastor at Neepawa’s Calvary Chapel from 1953 - 1958. Collver senior, went on to pastor in Fort Frances, Ontario and at churches in the United States.

A community partnership a year in the making nearly completed

Neepawa is now one step closer to having a ‘sister city’. On Tuesday, Aug. 29, mayor Adrian de Groot signed the formal declaration to establish the ceremonial partnership with Salvatierra, Mexico.

A year has passed since Ivan Traill retired from his position as general manager for Neepawa Access Community Television (NACTV), so its time to look back and check up on how the station is doing today. Current vice chair of the NACTV board, Don Walmsley, said, “The station has made some progress over the past year, the time has given NACTV the opportunity to really find its role in the community.” Walmsley noted, “NACTV is one of the few remaining channels in Canada that is based around comprehensive community programming, instead of broader content distribution, and that really reflects on it as media outlet, it brings to the table more content that really matters to individuals in the community.”
