NACI French class takes in the Voyageur life

Neepawa Area Collegiate

On Thursday, Feb. 18, 30 Neepawa Area Collegiate (NACI) high school French students experienced the “Joie de Vivre” at the Festival du Voyageur – “the largest winter festival in western Canada”.  The students attended a variety of fun and informative activities related to Manitoba’s history, with emphasis on Voyageur, Métis and First Nations histories.

Neepawa United Way to cease operations April 30

As of April 30, the Neepawa and District United Way will no longer be in operation. Over the past few years, the organization has seen a decrease in donations and an increase in operating costs, explained Jodie Byram, executive director of the Neepawa and District United Way. She said that the membership fees and administration costs, along with the lack of volunteers, have made the cost of operating in Neepawa too high.

A princess lives in Oak River

For the past two months Strathclair Drama Club members have been meeting once or twice a week to memorize lines/music, learn choreography/staging and try on costumes. There are another two months of rehearsals ahead for the 37-member cast; five actors live within the coverage area of Rivers Banner while even more have connections to this area.

Rolling River Festival soon returns to Minnedosa

The annual Rolling River Festival of the Arts is less than a month away! Sessions will be held in Minnedosa March 14-18 and the committee has secured the services of Elizabeth Rotoff, Caron Whitlaw-Hiebert and Wendy Bobby as adjudicators. You may be interested to know their credentials and expertise in offering suggestions to our participants.
