Deep fried ice cream

Would anyone care for a deep fried ice cream cone? It’s available at CJ’s Snack Shack, located in Rivers Provincial Park. Other tempting edibles will be offered during the official opening of the shack and its mini golf course (see ad for more details). Park entry fees remain in effect; camp visitors will be welcomed by Pat Dyck and Kathy Gross at the registration building.

Seven-month stats

The month of July saw a total of 48 calls for Rivers Police Service. There were numerous calls regarding Canada Revenue Agency scams, which led police to putting awareness articles in Rivers Banner and on the Riverdale Municipality Facebook page.

On Aug. 8, five Falun Gong practitioners stopped in Neepawa as part of a cross Canada trip to raise awareness about forced organ harvesting in China. According to a recent report, most of the organs used in China’s burgeoning transplant industry are harvested from prisoners of conscience, many of whom are Falun Gong practitioners.
