Community rallies to save Mt. Agassiz

Local citizens and ski enthusiasts gathered in the town of McCreary on Saturday, Feb. 21, to support the resurrection of Mount Agassiz ski hill. About 125 people participated in the rally, which included speeches at the local community hall and a protest at the base of the Alpine Archie road statue, against the demolition of the ski-lift towers.

Riverdale Municipality, Jan. 20: Recreation manager Navi Gill proposed a fitness area in Riverdale Community Centre which would be funded by grants and user fees to maximize rental opportunities and promote/provide healthy living space/equipment.

Blood donor clinic coming to Neepawa

Next week, Canadian Blood Services will be making a stop in Neepawa for a two day blood donor clinic. To be held at the Yellowhead Centre on March 2 and 3, Canadian Blood Services spokesperson Mike Choi said that they are looking for all types of donors.

Liberal candidate meets the constituents

Last Saturday, federal Liberal Party candidate Ray Piche held a meet and greet in Neepawa.  The event, held at the library, offered a chance for constituents to get to know Piche as well as talk to him about the Liberal Party.  He said that the event went well and offered a chance to start the conversation and listen to constituents.

Pancake breakfast at St. James

It was a stormy evening with temperatures in the low -20s but some 70 people braved the weather to attend St. James’ Anglican Church pancake and sausage supper on Feb. 18. It was to mark Shrove Tuesday, which precedes the 40 days of Lent leading up to the festival of Easter. The diners were welcomed at the basement entrance by George Roberts, cashier for the meal.
