East View redevelopment project denied provincial funding

The redevelopment of the former East View Lodge site into 44 units of senior’s housing won’t be receiving provincial funding.  NADCO chair Wayne Hildebrand and Grant Lukin, chair of the Neepawa Kinsmen Senior Citizens Housing Board said today that they were not one of the five successful applicants. In total, 27 projects were competing for $9.2 million in provincial funding through Manitoba Housing.

Regional hospital, then and now

Back in 2007, the 11 doctors that were serving the Neepawa and Minnedosa areas teamed up to promote the establishment of a regional hospital between the two towns at Franklin.

Municipal councils and school board trustees were voted for on Wednesday, Oct. 22. RM of Blanshard, RM of Saskatchewan and Town of Rapid City are amalgamating to form RM of Oakview, effective Jan. 1, 2015. In this new corporation Brent Fortune will be the inaugural reeve.
